expansion/transition fittings pvc??

when i am making the transition from rigid threaded pipe to pvc/cpvc do i need to put some sort of expansion fitting between the two or can i just go male pipe to female pvc/cpvc?

or does the expansion fitting just apply to the hot water pipe (cpvc)?

or did i just make this dilemma up in my paranoid head and i should just get on with it and put the pipe together?

LOL:D , now you sound like me. There's nothing wrong with making sure, but there's no reason to put di-electric fittings between iron and PVC. I don't even know what expansion fittings are (not that they don't exist...I just HOPE I've never needed one... 'cause I didn't use one..'cause I, personally, had never heard of 'em)

Also, you might keep you're posts on the same thread, makes things less confusing to new readers.

If they're a MOD around, and if you see fit, maybe we could get these merged? The other title is "Can Water feed pipes be PVC" or something like that. Same OP, and I think the topics are related

expansion/transition fittings pvc??

I think he might be talking about compression couplings like the Dresser coupling. I've done alot of old pipe with plumbers and as far as i know pipe thread is pipe thread is pipe thread. Of course sprinkler parts can only be used for that purpose etc. I think the dopes are almost all mixed use. >I hope we didn't run off the plumbers by answering questions we shouldn't have. I'll stop if they would come back. HS..

expansion/transition fittings pvc??

thanks for the knowledge.

as far as consolidating my posts, i wasn't sure about it. i thought that since my original question had been answered, no-one would go back and check the first post even if i had new questions.

i'll keep them all together in the future though, thanks again

No problem, but most of the regulars check anything new, even in old threads.
