I need to extend a hose bib so it's more readily reachable. Right now it's buried beneath a deck and is very hard to reach. The hose bib seems to be a sweat copper fitting with copper extending into the crawl space in a totally inaccessible location. So I'm thinking that if I remove the valve assembly from the current bib, maybe i can thread a male adapter into the top of the hose bib (where the valve was). I tried this on one valve at Lowe's and, by god, a 1/2" PVC mail adapter screws in just fine. Gonna try it tomorrow and just hope for the best. But if anyone knows about thread sizes for valve assemblies in hose bibs --- well, any info would be very much appreciated.

I can't visualize what your saying but pipe threads are all the same. just different diameters. Hose threads are different.....a courser thread and not tapered.

suggest you install short piece of hose with second shut off valve and quick disconnect connector to main hose..turn on original hose bib and leave it on ..use second valve to control flow of water....

Get a female hose to male pipe adapter. Thread on a PEX adapter and use PEX to extend to a new silcock location.

cut it off from inside install new ball valve...install new hose bibb in new location the proper way.....there's only one way the right way..ben sr
