Ejector pit problem

My ejector pump stopped working. I went and bought a new pump and put in. when I nplugged it in I heard gravel going through the pipes and then the new pump stopped. I took the pump out and dumped gravel out of it.The sump pump also had stopped working in a different pit.
Could water pressure under the foundation have caused the ejector pit to break and let gravel in.

I would try and elevate the pump off of the bottom of the pit if space allows. You can zip tie the pump to a cinder block or they also make polyethylene pump stands. Gravel is probably not coming in right at the basin, probably fines from the drains that lead into it.
