Dumb wife and toilet

So my wife uses the one of the upstairs toilets last night she drops a lip balm container small blistex type aluminum container maybe 50 cent piece around 3/4" tall into the toilet by accident as it's flushing. It goes down she tries plunging as she said the toilet was going down slower than normal. Toilet paper plus this. So she tells me the toilet needs plunging. I do it and hear something go through and knock. All cleared, I ask her what was that, she tells me about the lip balm. So everything is clear is there going to be a problem now? I know this was much smaller than the waste that goes down the drain but still.

if it went through the trap its now in the basement somewhere.. if there is a house trap it may end up there... or may get hung up between stack and trap....may or may not clog.....

More than likely not butt only time will tell. Sometimes it will take a day or two to tell. If it gets hung up in the drain it could catch toilet paper and start a build up.

One time I had an apprentice who dropped a 1/2 pint can of glue down a drain. And that was 3 yrs ago. No problem there but give it a couple days and you will know.

So I dumped a 5 gallon bucket of water in the toilet went immediately down. I Do have a 4" pipe sticking out of the ground on first floor out side the house is this a clean out?? So not that I want to worry any more but whats the solution if there is a hang up?? Costs?

I am so pissed at her in 45 years I have never seen someone drop something

Sounds like your fine. Chill out and have a beer.

With such a small item a simple main line rodding. Around here $125 but I don't know your area as far as pricing.

it's when one of these gets flushed down that you have to worry:

No we didn't. We were there for two weeks and this happened on the second day so every day after we flushed and flushed.

You're gonna have more problems than just a clogged toilet if she finds out you called her dumb.

I dropped my pager in a cess pool once. We had just uncovered it with a backhoe. Care to guess who was running the hoe and saw the whole thing? Yep, the owner of the company Found out he actually has a sense of humor
