Drop in Soaking Tub

I'm remodeling my bathroom and will be replacing the drop in soaking tub. The old tub was installed by the builder, and construction adhesive was used to secure to the floor.

The new tub has the following instructions: The bath must be supported along its entire bottom. Use mortar as bedding material (do not use sand or foam). Apply enough mortar to support the complete bottom of the bath.

The question I have, is how thick should I make the mortar base?

Also the deck height is 20.5" for the tub, and I'm assuming I should add to the deck height the thickness of the mortar base. Otherwise if I build the tub deck exactly 20.5", all the mortar would squeeze out entirely from beneath the tub.

Or does the manufacturer deck height installation of 20.5 already take into account the use of a mortar base, and no additional deck height is needed.

Jim

measure the tub and see what the actual height is. then you can adjust the deck height for the mortar under it.

Drop in Soaking Tub

Eliminate the D-I Garden Tub altogether.
Go for the MEGA shower instead.
