drainage tile

I need to add drainage tile to my back yard. I plan on running it to a dry well. I don't need to be doing anything fancy because the problem is not a major one.

I know that the tile I use needs to be perforated and I am used to foundation tile that is only perforated on the bottom half. I have access to some free flexible drainage tile but it has perforations all around. Am I able to use this opr am I going to be digging it up in a few years to replace it because it is clogged?

Should I just get a sleeve to keep dirt out?

Should I surround it with gravel?

How deep should I bury it?

Any useful information on this would be appreciated.

I assume that you're doing a French drain of some type.
If so, you need to slope the drain tile about 1/4" per linear foot to your drywell. It doesn't need to buried deep.
The drain tile should be perforated on the sides only IMHO, and placed in gravel with a fabric sleeve over it.
You're right. If you don't put a sleeve over it, it will be clogged in short order.
Good luck!
Mike
