Drain problems

Whenever my washing machine or bathtub drains, every drain in the house starts to gargle. The water in the toilets splash up and then is gets lower. If I give the kids a bath let the tub drain and then try to wash a load of clothes water comes out from under the washer as it drains. Help, what can I do to fix this? There is also a smell like dirty sewer water.

Drain problems

Plugged up vent, stopped up main sewer line, or if your on a septic it could be the tank is full or the drain field has failed.

I listed them in order of where to start working and the simplest and cheapest ones first.

Drain problems

How many levels in your home? What levels are the washer and bathtub on?
Any backup will be seen at the lowest drain in the system.

Drain problems

If you have water coming from the floor drain in the laundry rm. I'd guess your mainline is plugging.

Drain problems

We are in a one story with a non finished basement. The previous homeowners are friends with my patents and said they never had water down there. Well we have had over a foot of water down there several times, and now I can't get it to dry out either.

I'm so over water issues. Thank you for your suggestions. I will work my way down the list.
