Drain pipe size for roll in shower
I am having a home built and need a roll in shower for my disabled adult child. The plumber seems to think a standard drain will do. Years ago I had the bathroom renovated with a roll in shower. The plumber stated that the drain must be larger than a regular stand in shower drain. Roll in showers must drain at a higher rate than regular ones. My plumber at that time is now retired, I sold that house, and I can't get anyone to give me the actual size of the drain pipe for this roll in shower. Thanks for your help.
A shower head gallon per minute output, whether in a roll in shower or regular shower, is the same. I see no need for anything larger then normal. If you purchase a fiberglass ADA unit it will have a standard drain..
