does garbage disposal lead to downstream plumbing clogs?

Just wondering with all the crap tenants flush down the garbage disposal, does junk build up in the drain 30ft downstream and result in clogs over time?

my tenants grind pasta and rice in the sink food processor

Sure can and will.
One of the most useless inventions ever made.
That trash need to go in the trash can not the sink.

I always recommend removing disposals from rental housing. Too many maintenance calls.

Two of the worst foods to put down a disposal........unless you're a drain cleaner

I've run into two clogs so bad that I just cut out the pipe and replaced it----

I also recommend removing them from rentals---to many calls for coins, broken glass and screws jamming the machines---

A garbage disposal is not meant to be a trash can.

I too recommend removing them from rental properties. The trouble is that people dont use them correctly. Like Ben, I've had a disposal since my first home...and that was more years ago than I care to remember. No troubles, but we use it as it is intended to be used.

I've found Lobster claws, whole corn cobs, chicken bones.
Anyone with a septic tank should not have one.
In this area it's against code to have one.

The two tenants of the duplex were sitting on the porch having an animated discussion. What was overheard was "By Gawd I bet my garbage disposal will chew up a frozen chicken"

Same here. Interestingly, when my "development" was platted in the 1960s, it had a homeowners' association. The C&Rs at the time required every residence to have a disposal though we're all on septic systems. Fortunately, the association was disbanded years ago since, of the 160-odd lots (some as large as 16 acres), only about 40 have ever been built on.
