do they make such a thing ?

my utility sink in the basement. i use it to clean things. sometimes these things are quit dirty. i don't want this dirt/whatever going into my pipes. is there some type of "catch can" that can be put under the sink to let the junk settle into. then i detach it and dump the junk into the garbage.

Heres a few.

Best way is to preclean the parts before ever putting in the sink.

i never put grease in the drain. a grease trap is overkill.

i am thinking something like a catch can to replace the p-trap.

I have installed this trap on "plaster sinks" in art rooms at schools and minor emergency offices before. They sit under the sink and have a removable top and a basket inside. I don't know what they cost though-

Bottle traps have not been code legal for a long time.

Some would call it a pail and others would swear it's a bucket . When the job is done reconnect the trap for normal use and empty the pail/bucket . No need to over think a simple problem with codes and all that kind of stuff .
