Is there an existing vent, or are you putting this in all new including the drain? You absolutely need a vent, every fixture that has a drain needs a vent. Sorry if you have to do it, but if your connecting this to an existing shower you're taking out, you'll be fine as long as it's not too far away. Really need more information on your problem, but I hope it works. Good luck, and let us know!

Every fixture needs a vent. If not installed, drainage will be affected and the water sealing the trap can be sucked out, allowing sewer gas to enter the home.
