DIY Rheem Ecosense Tankless Water Heater

I need to remove my existing Rheem Ecosense Water Heater model#180DVN, and install a new Rhemm Ecosense model# ECO150 DVN3.
Do I simply turn off the gas, water, and any outside connections then unscrew to box from the wall?
I hired someone to install the original water heater.
Spiders, flies and leaves worked into it and clogged it up.

It can be a DIY job, but from the nature of your question, I recommend you leave to a pro. Gas leaks can be deadly!!

The debris can't be cleaned out?
What's to prevent the replacement heater from having the same fate?

Some places do require a licensed professional install gas fixtures. You 'can' do it yourself, pretty much as you've outlined, but you have to decide if your handyman skills are worth more than paying a pro.
