Disturbing epoxied soil pipe joint.

I attached photos of a soil pipe to the left of, and underneath our kitchen sink. The second one is looking into the cabinet bay, the first was taken at the P-trap under the sink, looking down the pipe. It looks like someone very sloppily tried to fix a leaking problem at some point by epoxying the joint between the pipe and another smaller fitting on the right.

I am going to be installing a garbage disposal soon. My concern is that during the course of install, I may disturb the epoxied joint and cause leaking, or even damage the soil pipe.

Do I need to address this joint anyway, since it looks like a bad patch job?

If not, any ideas how to better support the pipe to minimize damage while I do work under the sink?

Thanks in advance.
