Dishwasher install

Hi all!

I had a few questions about the proper way to install a wye and split off the hot water for a dishwasher.

I have 1.5" wye and if I understand correctly it is supposed to go between the sink and the trap. What is the best way to install it. The sink is connected to the ABS trap by a copper piece which threads onto the sink and onto the ABS. I'm sure my description is horrible so I attached a pic. Threads are circled in red.

For the hot water. The shut off that is there now is soldered on the inlet side and threaded for flexible hose on the outlet. Is there a way to split this off without soldering? I would like to avoid it since my skills and equipment for plumbing are limited. Alternatively, would it be code to tee off after the valve, so the sink and dishwasher share a shutoff? I attached a pic.

Your help is really appreciated.

OK! I figured out that I should just get a tail piece with a dishwasher connection. Does it have to be brass?

Any thoughts on the hot water? I guess I would need a dual angle stop with compression fit inlet and hose connections for both the outlets... Can't seem to find it though

dishwasher tail piece may be tight to get in ..plastic would be ok...dual compression valve would also work....so would 3/8 compression tee.....install right off of valve with small piece of pipe then hook faucet supply to top of 3/8 tee...

Can I cut down a plastic dishwasher tail piece if it is tight?

Do I need a shutoff for the faucet and the dishwasher? If so, can they be in series?

yes you can cut plastic...but you may not have enough room to get it in....and yes shut down valve to hot side if using that valve with a tee...or shut off main water to replace that valve...they can be in series as you call it.....

I'm a little confused about what the heck is going on with your drain. It may need to be re-worked.
