Dishwasher drain pipe fitting

I don't think I would call the plumbing inspector, Just install the AAV. You might be opening up an expensive can of worms there, and putting the inspector in a difficult position.

Just install an AAV about 5 inches above your trap. If you get an inspector involved you may end up fixing more then you want to...
