Discharge from a sink pump

I have a utility sink where the main sewer is 4ft off the floor, I have a way to tie in the discharge to the line but was unsure if the discharge of the pump to the sewer needed any kind of vent, air gap, or go through a p-trap like a washing machine? BTW I do have the pump unit itself vented to the outside so that is not a problem. I live out in the sticks of RI - codes are a bit relaxed, but I would like to plumb it properly.
