On demand H2O heater as back-up to solar water heater.

Can I use an on-demand gas water heater as a back-up for a solar water heat exchanger to supply both a residential radiant heated floor and domestic hot water? This is a new, very well insulated residence in New Mexico's high dessert mountains (1800 square foot adobe home at 6300 ft elev.)
