Delta faucet dripping sometimes

I have a seven year old faucet that I will find dripping. I push the handle down and it does not help. I have to turn the water back on and shut it off for it to stop. The faucet is used everyday. It would do this maybe once every few weeks, now it is getting more regular It is the Delta with the on off handle separate from the faucet itself. Let me know I will get the model number. Should I replace the cartridge? It should last more than six years? Are delta cartridges free?

They may be. I have an old delta faucet, called delta with model number, they sent me 2 new cartridges free. One for the hot and one for the cold. It's worth a shot. If not, ace hardware stocks them for about 8 dollars each. Take old one with you and match them up. The life of the cartridge depends on how frequent the faucet is used. Some last for a long time. Others not so much. 7 years is a good run. Delta, moen are great products.

How long any faucets last has a lot to due with what's in your water in addition to how often it gets used.

I took apart the handle assembly, after reassembly everything seems much tighter than before. Can anyone give model number? How hard it that cartridge to get apart?

Not to hard, just have to make sure everything is line up properly when installing new one or it won't work right. Looks like yours has a round plastic base and a metal retainer lock holding it in, base should unscrew (ccw) and retainer lock should pop off with a flattip screwdriver and then you can pull out cartridge with a pair of pliers. Here's a utube video. It's not the exact faucet that you have, but the procedures should be about the same. If you need more help, keep asking questions, that's what the guys are here for. Nice pics by the way.

As the day goes by and I use it more I realize it was never installed properly. I guess it was a good thing I did not look at it too closely before I took it apart. I must have reassembled it the proper way, it works so much better now.
