Delta 1400 Seriers Shower Single handle faucet


Hello, I have a Delta 1400 series shower faucet and I have adjust the scalding control but still don't get the hot water to maintain. It starts hot for about 4 or 5 seconds then goes back to luke warm. Does anyone know what the problem is and how to maybe resolve it. thanks

It kind of sounds like something is crossing over nearby.

Do you have this problem anywhere else in the house?

No, but when we turn the faucet on the the sink , same bathroom , the shower gets hot again, weird. Thank you for taking the time.

Their is a circulating pump on the system as well, didn't know if that has something to do with it?

Delta 1400 Seriers Shower Single handle faucet


I'd be willing to bet in this case, that your check valve on the recirculating line has failed. When you turn on the shower, the incoming cold water is taking the path of least resistance (shortest distance of piping) and going past your failed check valve and through the return line to the shower. I'm guessing that your lavatory is further upstream on the recirculating line and turning that one on pulls hot water through the hot water line.


That's what i'd check anyway.

Delta 1400 Seriers Shower Single handle faucet


A shower faucet is called a "shower body". This shower body has an internal cartridge called a "pressure balance". Replacing the pressure balance cartridge with a replacement 1400 series cartridge will solve the problem.
