Deep Well Jet Pump

I have a deep well jet pump that has started cycling on every 5 minutes or so without water running. The pump kicks on, the pressure builds to 50, shuts off, and I can then see the pressure gauge slowly decrease until the pump kicks back on. I turned off the water to the rest of the house and it still happens. When the pump is off I can hear water trickling back down into the well. I had a well guy come look at it. He said he thought it was a hole in the pipe going to the well. The pipe is steel, probably 50 feet or more. The well is in my basement, with no access from above. I will have to take off some of my trex decking above it, cut an access panel, and have them use a crane to pull the piping out. They quoted me $3000 for everything, and I was wondering if there was a DIY alternative to all of this.

First off sounds like you might have a pressure tank issue you know the tank that holds water and has pressure in it. I would also check to see if you have a bad relay switch too. because your going to be in the hurt locker to pull that pipe. Also why is your well in your home? that is not code any were.

Not a tank issue. I think you have the proper diagnosis. If htis truelly is a deep well jet pump setup then you should have two pipes going down the well.
