Dampness in wall next to bathtub

There is a small triangle of dampness under the paint next to my bathtub. The tub needs a new caulking. It already has a silicone caulking, but 20 years old.

How should I proceed without tearing out the bathtub or going into the wall?

remove the old caulking clean the area with alcohol let dry thoroughly fill the tub get IN and re-caulk leave the water in the tub until the caulk cures and drain

If you get out before it cures the tub will shift due to the weight change and the caulk might crack. Better stay in that tub till the caulk cures. Hope the water stays warm.

Or you could fill the tub with water and not get in while you caulk. Then you'll stay dry and warm.
