Culligan Medallist Series 45 water softener

I noticed last night the softener was on, didn't think much about it, but this AM when I left for work, it was still on. The display shows an error code, E2. According to the manual, it's a stuck motor. Is this something that I could fix, or should I really call Culligan? The head is about 6-7 years old, the water softener itself is much older, 13+

Could be that the piston is stuck, thus holding up the motor, or it is the motor that is stuck.

Depends on how handy you are on fixing items like this softener.

It is out of warranty so no worries there.

I'm fairly good at tearing into things. I've tried to look at the diagram and part list I have, but the diagram and numbers are very blurry to read.

Here is a link to a Fleck 2510, it will give some ideas as to the lay out of your culligan unit.

What was the last water test on your well?
Iron, Hardness?
It might be time for a seal pack and piston replacement.
Or a new coat of silicon on the rubber in the seal cage assembly.
Any photo of the unit with the cover off and showing the motor and back plate?
