Cpvc female adapter w/ o-ring

I'm in the middle of redoing my guest bath and am into the plumbing. I have installed a new shower valve with 4 male 1/2" pipe outlets (hot, cold, shower, bath). To plumb in the hot and cold I used cpvc female adapters with the o-rings. When I tighten them down as snug as I would expect it I appear to bulge the o-ring. It is leak free but i worry about the flow (takes roughly 8 to 10 seconds to fill a gallon bucket). Are these o-rings supposed to bulge? Does my flow sound restricted?

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Chris

I've never heard of CPVC fittings with O rings, how about a picture.
Should have been glued fittings.

I think what you are talking about is there is a bib washer in the female adapter.

First off all you DO NOT want to make a connection like this inside a wall. It needs to be a solid connection.

Either a sweated joint, a shark bite connector but not what you are wanting to do.

I am planing to use this to make the valve to cpvc connection http://www.google.com/imgres?um=1&hl...t:429,r:18,s:0

I have seen this at hardware stores cpvc male adapter with o ring on female part....as mentioned you do not want to make this connection in the wall either solder fittings or shark bite ...I would not trust those fittings...

Here is what I used...

I saw the other female adapter version (linked above) and in fact used the other version on my kitchen remodel. Not really sure why I grabbed what I did?

Is the one in my link not code for behind wall or is that more a personal sentiment?

The one linked above will be better than the one you have.

I don't think PVC/CPVC female adapters are code legal. In any case, I sould never use one inside a wall.

I've had that style fitting crack in half before. Get rid of it.

I'm pretty sure that's why they're illegal.

Threw me off when the OP said o ring, it's a flat washer.

crza1 02-16-2012 06:28 PM

Correct, it's a flat washer not an o-ring. Think I'll go the shark bite route.
