corrosive action on this union hot side

The plastic bushing and rubber washer is in tact. I wiped it off so the corrosion is not showing. The old heater was in service 20 years no corrosion, same set up. Just on the bottom of the union! joecaption Member   Join Date: Nov 2011 Location: Hartfield VA Posts: 18,185	corrosive action on this union hot side Anodode rod is probaly long gone with a heater that old. 20 years is about 5 years behond the expected life of a heater, may want to concider replacing it.

I pulled the anode on my new water heater prior to install, applied Nickel based Anti seize compound and reinstalled it. I picked this us while servicing burners on huge stills in refinery's. I can't help but look at when I was clothes as it is right there.
