Copper supply through unheated garage?
The situation.

I have an unheated garage with drywall ceiling between the main supply lines in the finished basement and a hosebib that I need installed on the exterior wall.

Is there a way to install a ball valve and purge valve in the heated basement to make this work?

There would be no valves on the unheated side of the basement firewall.

If you wanted to use the hosebib you would go into the basement, turn the ball valve on, use the hose then turn the ball valve off and purge the water left in the copper line.

Use a 1/2" ball valve with a drain cock--very common---then a regular(not a frost proof) hose bib out side.

If the piping can be pitched so that it drain to the ball valve--you are good.

If water remains in the pipe--use compressed air to clean out the pipe each fall.

If PEX is allowed in your area--use that--best freeze/burst resistance in piping.

from the house water line add a ball valve then a union..then winter shut down....shut the valve in the basement break the union with a bucket under the spigot outside to vent down till you see your breath in that garage during the dead of the winter?
