Question

copper pipes

i replaced my water line from the street, about 600 ft. with copper flex line and now all the tubs, showers and sinks are turning green?? HELP!! i was told it would go away by the plumber and also the water district is putting too many chemicals, bleach, in the water.
it has been 4 years and it isn't any better. i can hardly get the bathrooms clean no matter what i use. i am not suppose to use comet kind of products on the tubs, but i am desperate!!
does anyone have an idea or solution????

"Copper turns green when it oxidizes."

Here's my general search
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&s...&aq=f&oq=&aqi=

Here's a link that may help
http://en.allexperts.com/q/Water-Qua...ter-stains.htm

"Green/Blue stains indicate copper problems that could be caused by electrolosis [electrolysis]. Do you happen to have any galvanized fittings in your plumbing?"

In which case a clamp-on ammeter would show excessive current flow in the pipe. But how amps or milliamps is excessive?

we have already put things on the pipe for electrolysis and we have no galvanized pipes, copper to pvc.

we a in an older modular and my husband thinks there is not a proper ground in place under the mobile. that is the next step.

[quote=tunaswootz;306980]we have already put things on the pipe for electrolysis and we have no galvanized pipes, copper to pvc.

i have an amp meter. the copper comes to the mobile and then connects to the pvc going into the mobile.

i just went out and touched the connection from the copper to the pvc and it was leaking. when i stopped it did also, so there is a repair there.

do i put the amp meter on the copper pipe anywhere or ??

my husband is out of town or i'd ask him.

For every 900' of Romex in your place you should have 5 mA of AC current flowing in the ground lead.
