Copper or PEX for exterior water line replacement

I've had different plumbers quote a job replacing the water line from the meter to my house. One swears copper and one swears PEX. THe copper guys says he repairs and replaces pex piping that was installed in new homes. The PEX guys says it is the new standard and everyone is using it. I understand cost is an issue, but that aside, which is better for a buried water main line to the house??

Thanks, JIm
