Copper to Copper with gatorbite connectors

Do I need to use the plastic sleeve/plug that comes with the gatorbite when joining copper to copper? Also, is the permanent better than the removable when it comes to overall reliability?

Do not use the plastic sleeve as it is only used for pex pipe applications. Gatorbite permanent fittings have had issues in the past. I have not heard anything negative about their removable fittings. I have used them with no problems to date.

Im not sure your application but I had great luck using Sharkbite fittings that I bought at HD. I have a straight fitting and a 90 degree fitting holding my master bath shower faucet. Theyve been there for about 6 months (not that long, I know) with no problems. Ive been told since they are accessible that they meet code as well but that very well may have been bull:censored:.
