I will definitely mock it up first. Just wanted to make sure that is the proper way to set it up. I would assume using the drop ear elbow with a brass nipple would give me some leeway as to the width of the tile and wall...

what is the best to use on the threads - tpae dope or teflon tape? I alos read about the best thing to use is Blue Block. Any recommendations?

Teflon tape works for me. Three or 4 rotations of tape and you're good.
