Is it worth it to convert oil heat into gas heat?? If yes can someone can recommend any good contractor with their own personal experience. How much does it cost (an average)?? Do we need to change the chimney as well??
aint neither one cheep anymore but at least with oil your only paying for what you use and not for what is in the line or a sur charge I had all my Natural gas shut off and since the electric company gives a discount if you heat with electric I am swithching to that plus I get a tax credit. As for a contractor we dont know where you are so any recomendation would be worthless
Don't do it. I made that mistake 6 years ago. There are more BTU's of heat in a gallon of oil than gas. The cost to convert you will never recover. Both are not cheap as clasact stated. I would look at adding some kind of solar to help. If you do decide to do it do not buy a Trane. We had a lot of trouble after 2 years.
