Connecting a drain for a dishwasher

I've lived in my house for years now and desided to install an under the counter dish washer. I'm putting it in the spot where the previous owners had one. The water supply pipe is still there but in the basement where the drain pipe used to be, there is a capped off copper t. The hole in the floor for the drain tube is about 3 feet from the t. Wondering what would be the best way to connect the drain tube.

Connecting a drain for a dishwasher

The best way is to connect it to the sink tailpiece or disposal

Connecting a drain for a dishwasher

What EPlumber said. If you have a disposal, there is probably a dishwasher connection on it somewhere. If you don't, the appropriate tailpiece is not expensive. Some localities require an air gap for the drain. If yours doesn't the drain should be looped as high as possible above the connection.
