Composite granite sink/ garbage disposal leak

I installed a H.D. composite granite sink for a friend, the garbage disposal keeps leaking under the flange that the disposal attaches to. I used the alternate plumbers putty recommended for granite. Friend does not want silicone used, heard of problems with it. (?) I have made 3 trips attempting to stop this leak. I know on a metal sink the 3 screws that attach the disposal on the underside get screwed all the way in, Being that the "granite" is thicker they only screw half way in before popping the ring off, of course causing the disposal to fall. I would love some advice to get this fixed finally. Thanks.

What brand? Insinkerator? If so there are shorter screws available--

It is a Badger 2hp?

That's an Insinkorator----Get the shorter screws---use regular plumbers putty--that is a fake granite and will not stain----make sure the rubber washer is against the sink bottom----then the card board one---

I don't ever use silicone and have never had one leak----Good luck---Mike----

figured the problem out finally..

The problem all along was the customer bought an after market flange for the drains. The recess on garbage disposal side flange was not deep enough to properly seat the c-snap ring. Once a properly designed one was purchased the screws also went all the way in as I knew it should be. Lesson learned, Headache solved, thanks for the input! :)
