Cold water runs for a few seconds and then stops. . .

A few weeks ago the cold water in my bathroom sink started shutting off suddenly. Basically, I turn on the faucet, probably get the equivalent of two glasses of water out of it, and then it makes a clunking noise and the water stops abruptly. Hot water runs fine. You can turn it off, and the same thing happens again. . .

Sounds like you might have air in your pipes. Try bleeding them by opening all the cold water faucets and see if this might help.

anyone else have any other suggestions?

I'd take the aerators off, at least that one and let the water run, if you've done any work on the pipes recently, you could have sediment in the line, flush them out some and give it a try,

you MAY have a chunk of stray solder in the lines. When the flow brings it up to the small spot in the line,it clunks and shuts off the flow. Only way is to take off pipe at where it goes from large to small and flush it adequately,,,might even take off the supply to cold faucet,,,might be just right size NOT to go thru faucet. Turning off the faucet lets gravity drop it back down and water flow brings it back up to the stick point!! Messy job but somebody has to do it.
