Clueless in Waco - installing a bowl sink

I'm your typical overly enthusiastic I-can-do-that RNG (Renno-New-Gal) . First project was to tackle a half bath by replacing the old all-in-one sink/vanity top with a bowl type sink/granite top.

Question - how do I seal the bowl sink through the granite top to the drain? Do I need a plumber already?

Under mount or top mount sink. For undermount, there are several methods of securing the sink to the top. Some use glue blocks/silicone sealer, some have nutserts install under the granite, etc. Top mount is easy, run a bead of silicone around the top and drop in the sink.

Not sure I understand the drain question. Drains are connected the same way for most any sink. Pop up assy installed with plumbers putty, then trap and whatever is needed to get to the wall elbow. There are some fairly good plumbing DIY books at big box stores.

The way I am reading this post is the she wants to know how to seal the drain to the granite bowl. Maybe I'm wrong though. Bill's answer is correct--seal the drain to the bowl with plumbers putty. IF you are not familiar with how to use plumbers putty, just ask. You will get many different methods of how to use plumbers putty here for sure. Good Luck, David

Thank you both for helping. I realise that learning the correct language is a must. Never used plumbers putty before but now that I know what it is called that's half the battle. And yes to both - I needed to know what material was used to create a waterproof seal between the top mounted bowl sink and the granite vanity top. Will also look for a plumbing DIY book. Good suggestion.
