Clog is killing me
So my kitchen sink just clogged up and I have already tried a few things. I have unhooked every PVC pipe under my kitchen sink trying to locate the clog, and I have an auger, but when I try to push it down the exit pipe it feels like there is no exit to the pipe. I have tried wigging the auger and I have tried moving it around. How do you get an auger down a horizontal sink exit pipe?
I keep trying to push the auger down, and it just feels like its hitting the wall of the pipe, but not making the downturn to go further down the pipe... I don't get it. |

You have to rotate the auger (like a drill) as you advance it down the drain line. Are you doing that?

Yes I am turning and turning and it feels like I am turning it into a wall. Like its not going down its not going up. I am very confused about this pipe.

For basic review:
http://homerepair.about.com/od/toolh.../auger_use.htm Sometimes when you are advancing the auger and rotating, it will seem to stop; this may be an elbow or other fitting or perhaps the clog. Try pulling back an inch or so, rotating, then advance it again. May have to keep doing this until it goes through. Might be too tough a clog for a small auger; may need a pro to come in with a heavier one run by a machine. |

Some times a 'snake' is to stiff to make a bend--is yours a thin light weight one?
You are running into the back of a T --any access to the piping from below? |

Its a thin light snake yes, and I am trying to avoid going to access the pipes from below. Not a big fan of getting into the crawl space under the house

Well I forced the snake down through the drain as far as it would go. I brought up some sludge but not much, and then I hooked everything back up again.. but still the sink starts to backflow again. I am not sure what else it could be

You have not hit the clog yet, obviously. You may end up going under the house and rodding from there
Sorry, clogs happen--be prepared to cut a pipe and maybe put in a cleanout. ---Mike--- |
