Clicking Sound in Walls

I live in a tri-level townhome (built 1998) and lately whenever I flush the toilet on the middle floor I hear a clicking sound in the walls. The sound starts out rather fast and then just sort of slows down then stops. The clicking sounds stop when the toilet stops running.

What could this be? I don't see any water spots in the ceiling in the basement so I don't think there's anything leaking. Please HELP!?!?

Check out this thread or do a search for the work click in the plumbing forum.

In you case it is near the toilet area. you may need to open up wall or live with it, it's no big deal.

Or it could be the fill valve in the tank, replace it and see if thats fixes the problem.

The clicking sound is not actually in the bathroom, but in the living room wall (I'm guessing where the pipes run to get to the 2nd floor). Could the pipes be loose?

Yes they could be loose.
