Clearing my water pipes so I can solder a joint

How do I blow all the water out of my cold water pipes so I can fix a bad solder?

I shut down all the water to the house and open every faucet in the house wide open. Once everything is drained, I just cut the pipe and let it drain into a bucket and fix the problem... sometimes I end up with a bit of water in my face when I cut the pipe but oh well it dries.

You can stuff some white bread in the pipes to hold the water back while you solder. It will dissolve when you turn the water back on. Don't use wheat bread.

Ayuh,... That's what I do....

just be sure to take the aerators off the spouts downstream so's to flush the bread out, without pluggin' 'em up...

I'm curious too.. guessin' though he types like he talks. Kinda like the way I drop all the G's at the end of words... and use a lot of conjunctions.

Ayuh, like huntin', fishin', campin',... that'd be my guess
