Cleaning PVC Pipe

I'm building some recycling tubes for monofilament fishing line..
I'd like to remove the red lettering from the PVC tubes.
Alcohol works not at all and brake cleaner not much better.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Rob

PVC cleaner. Make sure it is clear. Some of them are purple.

Cleaning PVC Pipe

Thanks All for the advice.
Are PVC cleaner and PVC primer the same?
They gave me two cans of Weld-On,
724 CPVC and P-70 Clear Primer.
Sounded from the directions like the primer would soften the plastic, yes?
If so, NOT what I want to remove the lettering.
??

The primer etches the surface a bit--it does not leave it soft---so you should be fine---try a spot if you already own a can---

sanding works---that red printing is very thin---
