clay in my well water

how do I get rid of clay in my well water,it appears to be a 6 inch abs pipe in a old hand drilled well,in a bed of clay, probably not very deep.
The pump is in the house and the well is 100 feet away down a 20 foot hill on a flood plain, would there be a filter on the end of the pipe,or can I do something up at the house, thanks for any help, steve
