Check valve keeps coming off!

Take a look at the pic provided.

Typical sewage ejector setup in my basement for our full bath. Works great other than the INCREDIBLE water hammer force. I understand it's normal and have been dealing with it for a year now since I bought the house.

My problem is that the hammer is so strong, it physically pulling away from the rubber boot above it. Once a month, I detect the boot has slipped away causing fluid to spray out onto the walls!

I'm sick of it. No matter how hard I crank down the screws on the boot, the hammer pulls the boot off. Did I install something wrong?

The system was already there when I bought the house. I replaced the ball valve, check valve, boots and pump.

I added some wood blocking (not pictured) between the wall and the pipes to secure the pipes better and to cut down on the water hammer valve movement. It worked but the boot is still coming off. Thoughts?

Looks right. If you installed it backwards, you would diffinately know it. nothing would be going out and everything would be backing up.

Check valves can be quite noisey. Not saying that's your problem. They do sell higher end ones that are silent which are spring loaded to prevent that severe hammer. Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you. Others will be along with more advice.

It works fine, but the hammer is actually destroying the set up. I can deal with the noise, but I'm convinced the hammer is pulling it apart.

Soooo……I bought a silent valve today off the internet.

I was hesitant at first. Everyone told me when I bought my regular valve that the silent ones are a gimmick. But after reading the reviews online, there's no truth to that. MANY said they are incredible and worth the money.

Will post a review.
