certain type/brand of pipe dope to use

I am repairing a leak in a sink supply and going from older galvanized pipe to wirsbo pex.

Is there a certain type and/or brand of pipe dope I should use where my brass adaptor will screw into the existing galvanized pipe?

As long as it says Teflon pipe dope it will work.
You do know at some point all the old galvinized pipe is going to have to go, right?
It's going to leak, close up on the inside reducing flow, the flaking off rust is going to plug up your faucets.

If it was mine I would first use a couple of wraps of teflon tape then the dope.
Putting steel in direct contact with brass is never a great idea.
It will cause corrosion.

That is actually what the wirsbo supplier suggested I do. Tape then dope. I will do it that way. Thanks.
