Cemented Shower Face Plate

I'm trying to remove the face plate in the shower so that I can change the cartridge but the face is cemented to the wall. How do I remove the face plate?

It's probably caulking. Use a razor blade to cut through the caulking. You may to
gently pry the plate loose with a screwdriver. And don't forget to turn off the water when you pull the cartridge
