cast iron sand pipe

I have an old building where they ran shielded electric conduit along the cast iron pipe. I heard the current and the galvanized conduit will cause the cast iron pipe to get rust holes where the conduit is resting against the pipe. I have a 6 inch hold I need to repair. What is the best method and if I cut out the pipe what are the chance of the pipe above me will come crashing down. This maybe a project to big for my skill level.

If you are a real handy guy you can get a clamp at plumbing supply and anchor the pipe so it wont slip down. cut out bad section and replace. If that is above your skill level I would reccomend an experienced service plumber not a new construction plumber

COLDIRON

You might be able to get a new clamp section to put right over the defective area to good metal with out cutting. I'd look around before I cut that cast.
