cast iron drain pipe?

In the process of bathroom remodel and am going to change over the pipes (there was a leak that caused remodel). Main pipe runs from the second floor bathroom through the kitchen into the basement. The plumber want to replace cast iron pipes with PVC. With to the placement of the pipe throughin the kitchen (I understand PVC is much louder than cast iron, even with insulation) can I run a cast iron pipe through the kitchen and all others PVC?
thanks

Yes, you can run new cast iron for a stack and do pvc on the rest. The cast is quieter.

Sure you can. You can go to cast iron that is connected with No-hub couplings which means no lead joints.
