cartridge spins but wont come out

I believe I have a Moen 1200 cartridge.I know its not uncommon for them to be tough to remove but in my case the cartridge spins easily.
What could be holding it in place if the cartridge is one piece, clip is out.

Kelc,
A lot of times a piece of the rubber seal that's part of the cartridge gets hung up in the holes in the brass. The big box stores sell a tool that threads into the cartridge and looks sorta like a T handle. It enables you to twist and pull at the same time without tearing everything up. The tool isn't that much money.

I went to Lowe's today, they didn't have one of those tools.
Im going to home depot this week to see if they have them.Just seems strange that it spins so easy but won't come out.I was pulling on it so hard i could feel the pipes bending.

Does that tool also have something to remove the sleeve if the cartridge breaks? The other tool on that same page (t-shape) i believe has something to remove the sleeve.

Not sure Kelc,
I used mine at the neighbors a couple of months ago and it worked well. We never would have got it out by trying to grap the small stem with a pair of pliers. The center of the tool threads into the cartridge stem and the shoulders of the tool line up with the shoulders on the cartridge. Once you tighten it, just twist back and forth while pulling on it and the cartridge should come out. You'll more than likely find a couple of pieces of rubber left behind that tear off the oval shaped seals on the cartridge.

I went down to home depot today. They didn't sell the t- type tool but they did have the one you posted link to so i bought it.I fought it for a few minutes but i did get it out.You where 100% correct about not getting it out without this tool. The channel locks that I was using would have never got that cartridge out.The rubber around the old cartridge was still intact this thing was just stuck. Thanks for the help.
