Capping water pipe

Hi,
I'm removing an electric shower and need to remove the water feed pipe.
The pipe runs through the roof space, so I was thinking of cutting the pipe back and capping it somehow.
Can someone give me some advice as to the best method.
Is a compression fitting adequate, or is this type of fitting not preferred if the fitting is in a hidden location such as the loft?
Tha me for an URL you can offer

Solder a cap on, or use a Gatorbite/sharkbite-type cap fitting.
