Canadian shower tub spout

Strange question: I've seen on Holmes on Homes shows that stall showers have the showerhead and what looks like a tub spout installed.
Why the tub spout?
Just curious.

When I did my shower I did the same thing, this allowed me to adjust water temp while standing in the shower without the shock of too cold or too hot. It will also allow in the event its needed an easy way to fill a large bucket with water.
