Can You See Dip Tube From Upper Element Port ?
 

Have elec HWH that runs good and hot for about 3 min then gets warmer and stays that way, even for several minutes.

The 2 elements check ok 12.9 ohms, no short to ground. Both TH diagnose test ok. "May" have an upper TH that sticks - diag wil not confirm that.

This WH is about 7 yrs old and in very good shape.

My thinking is that a broken dip tube would cause the water to get cold pretty fast ?

To confirm dip tube problem or not, can it readily be seen from the upper element port with a mini mag lite ?

best to pull it out to inspect the whole diptube.

I'm confused what the problem is exactly.
