Can I tie my basement sump into my septic?

I just dug up my foundation this weekend, waterproofed it, and installed much-needed weeping tile. My basement had a sump and a pump out, but it was pretty useless without weeping tile - it just evacuated the immediate area but didn't keep the floor dry. Anyways, rather than have a separate pump out for the sump can I tie my sump pump into my septic line with a check valve? I live on 20 acres and my septic system consists of 2 tanks and a pump out about 100 yards into the field. I know you can't do this on a municipal system due to volume, but is there any reason I can't do it with a septic system??

I sure would advise against doing what you're considering. The septic is a sensitive system, and the volume of water that you'd put into it in a good rainstorm would likely cause a myriad of problems. Don't do it.

Better advice would be to get that drain as far away from the house (and downhill) as reasonably possible, avoiding the septic field altogether.
