While switching the bath/shower combo from shower to bath, the little pull nob broke off and a piece of plastic and a spring came out. My question is, does the spicket un screw and able to be replaced, and if so is there anything else that i have to do to ensure that the water will be routed to the shower head?

Any and all help would be appreciated.

Yes, you can unscrew the diverter from the wall pretty easily. Turn it counterclockwise. They often have some pretty long threads so it may take a lot of unscrewing.

The part you broke usually isn't replaceable. A new diverter should fix you up.

Just screw a new one on (follow the instructions) and caulk it to the wall.

Sorry for my ignorance. A diverter? Is that the spicket coming out of the wall?

You got it. Sorry for switching terms on you!

It is called a diverter because it diverts water from the spigot to the shower head.

To remove it if it is tight stick the handle of the pliers in the diverter opening and turn. Same with installing, it protects the chrome finish, but not to tight. You do not want to break any thing in the wall.

I am guessing that you are referring to the tub spout. There are two types. Look under the spout where it meets the wall. If there is a slot, it has an allen set-screw that holds the spout to the pipe. Remove it and steadily pull and twist to remove the spout. There are "O" rings that seal the pipe. If there is no slot, it is held on by a threaded fitting. Turn counter-clockwise to remove.
